The new headphone adapter cord came in today, I can finally work on more music again!! Unfortunately, I missed the AIM contest, but that’s alright— there’s always next year. I’m just glad I’m back to creating music.

THE NEW QUADECA SINGLE

ITS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IVE EVER HEARD, QUICK EVERYONE JUMP ON THE QUADECA HYPE TRAIN BEFORE HE RELEASES THE NEW ALBUM

For context, Quadeca is probably my biggest musical inspiration at the moment, ever since his album I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You completely redefined music for me. Those that have listened to it probably understand why my music style has shifted so dramatically to this lush, folktronica sound recently. But that’s besides the point, GO LISTEN

My headphone adapter has just been getting worse and worse, and I can’t listen to music on my phone anymore. Unfortunately, my phone is my ENTIRE SETUP, so I won’t be able to scrape anything together in time.

What a freaking great day today was!!! I enjoyed this day so much… and I think it’s really important to remember good days like these because they make the low days (the majority, unfortunately) worth it. So, what happened today?

QUADECA RELEASED A NEW SINGLE!!!

I haven’t even gotten around to listening to it yet, but I’ve heard it’s got one of his best moments of any track on his discography— which is REALLY saying something, if you’ve ever heard the I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You album! I got an instant dopamine hit when I checked his Spotify page and ACTUALLY SAW SOMETHING NEW. VANISHER is going to be the album of the year!!!

SPLATOON 3 FINALLY RECEIVED THIRD WEAPON KITS— AND A NEW STAGE!!!

Ive been waiting on third weapon kits in Splatoon 3 for so long… probably almost a year now. And one of my favorite weapons got an amazing kit, and I’ve had an absolute BLAST playing it! I know the majority of you don’t care about Splatoon 3, but it was a good day lol.

THE LEGENDARY @KI1 GIFTED ME SUPPORTER STATUS FOR THE MONTH!!!

I was so incredibly hyped when I saw that outline on my profile and the “Whoo, Supporter!” message from G-Bot. Huge shoutout to KI1 for giving me this, I’m really looking forward to using its perks for the next month! For everyone reading this who ISN’T the amazing KI1, you all gotta go check out his music, it’s BEAUTIFUL. That and Quadeca’s new single. And his 2022 album. You’ve got a lot to catch up on tbh

And that wraps up the day!!! I’ve been having such a good month after the release of can it please be over, which has gathered 7 PAGES OF REVIEWS and will be on Spotify soon. This has been such a great month in fact, that I might be willing to give you all a face reveal!

Also, update on the music setup— I’ve almost got enough money to buy the PC, and should have FL soon after. I’d say I might have those essentials within the month!!! After that, I’ll have a lot of learning to do, and probably a lot of music to put out, so you guys STAY TUNED!

Working on some more music, straight from my heart. This is an entire new level of sound design and production for me.

I’ve been creating this track for a while.

It’ll be out sometime in the next month.

When it’s out… I hope youll find the catharsis I sought while making it.

I’m super glad to have hit this wonderful milestone! I had typed out an incredible recap of my journey as a musician thus far when my page refreshed and I lost the whole thing, so unfortunately no long speech for this one.

Due to my recent employment, I am finally able to save up for a music setup, including a computer, FL Studio, a microphone, a full-size MIDI keyboard, some VSTs, and the works. It’ll be a learning curve, but quite a fun one I’ll bet

WHAT’S THIS?

To celebrate the long-awaited release of my experimental and emotional album, inevitable, inescapable, I am hosting my second ever REMIX CONTEST!!

It will be quite similar to my first, but with slightly different rules, slightly adjusted criteria points, and an IMPORTANT TWIST!!

RULES

1. The deadline for your submissions will be pretty flexible, but I’m not going to wait forever for everyone to create their tracks. We’ll aim for May 1 of this year, and if additional time is needed then the date will be adjusted accordingly.
2. If you are interested in participating, post to this thread which song you will be remixing. Once you have posted, you cannot change your decision. Further explanation for this in the important twist.
3. To submit a track, simply post its NG link it to the same thread.
4. Collabs are allowed, but optional. Same story for samples.
5. If you have a question about the melody or chords of the original song, feel free to PM me and I would be happy to help. I know I put some weird chords in there, and having a good ear alone might not be enough…

CRITERIA:

Creativity - 30 points

Remixes are just the use of a given song as a canvas for your own ideas— the clay that you’ll mold into your work of art. So take my ideas and put your own spin on them, show me your style! Just make sure it is still relevant to the original track, and not a completely different song.

Technical Soundness - 24 points

Balance, EQ, mixing, mastering, you name it.

Atmosphere - 22 points

Since the album has a really big focus on atmosphere, I think the atmospheric quality of your remixes are a bit higher of a priority than last time!

Instrumentation - 16 points

Have you added some new sound design to elevate the mood you’re going for? Do all of the sounds you’re using fit together to create this mood? All of that and more in this category.

Overall - 8 points

My overall thoughts on the song, and how all of the elements present in the song combine. In short, if its more than the sum of its parts.

THE IMPORTANT TWIST IN QUESTION:

Firstly, only songs on the new album are eligible for remixing! Once a participant has selected their track of choice to remix, that song is OUT. You cannot remix a song that someone else is already remixing! This is why it’s important that you post which song you are choosing to remix in the thread— it dictates which tracks are available to other participants.

Songs will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. If you really want to try a specific track, say something quick!

*If you choose a song but then have to drop out for whatever reason, please say so on this thread so I can let other participants know that the song you originally chose is open again for use.

FINAL REMINDERS:

To wrap up this post, remember: the target deadline is May 1st, but I might adjust if a few contestants need more time. Post your song choice when you want to participate. I will announce the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners when all is said and done.

Last thing I want to say is, don’t be afraid to pick a song that’s maybe more on the experimental side— I would think there’s just a lot more room for originality with those!
