Love the experimental sound design you pair with these breaks!

Drums feel a little quiet, but I am DIGGING this epic melodic dubstep sound! The chords feel so big. Would totally recommend adding some other synths in those chord stacks and/or put in some different notes than your typical triad, to give it that lush feel.
I really like how the melody progresses throughout the song, never quite repeating, always building to something. The lead sounds just as big as the rest of the track, and stands out very well.
Compositionally, I would’ve liked to hear some different chord progressions, some different sections, because as it stands this song feels like one long A section.
Last thing— SUB BASS! That low bass would give this song so much more atmosphere, and it already feels really atmospheric.
This song has a lot going for it, I just think a few changes could push this work to the next level!
Those slightly unquantized-feeling drums are so cool, I wanna lead with that. Heck, everything about this track is cool. The unique time signature, and the fact that the arps and lead sound like their constantly changing… love all the filters you put on everything. Oh, and the bass! That’s right, ALL of this song hits. Keep it up!!
thanks mate 😁
Yeah there are mixing problems present, but… the main elements of this song are so strong that it’s a banger anyway! Can’t say anything that previous reviewers haven’t already said.
Thought I’d write a review on one of your finished tracks, just to see what your songs look like at the end of your process.
I like the intense techno vibe! Like some of your others, you build this one up instrument by instrument, keeping listeners entertained until your big finish. I like your composing style, it’s simple but so effective!
I also love that mellow synth that comes in around 0:55. It flows really well, keeping with your acidic theme. And the harder drums that kick in near the end are a great way to end the track.
So structurally and compositionally I’d say this is all I need from a 2 minute concept track like this!
So where you started to lose me was the mix. There’s a LOT more low-frequency presence than high-frequency, for starters. With all of your instruments occupying those same general low frequencies, everything starts to sound really muddled down there.
I would also recommend making a bit more use of panning, because this track just feels paper-thin in my headphones. Making use of that panning can really do wonders in keeping the listener entertained.
Lastly, a complaint on the drums. It’s the hihats— they sound very robotic. Many a producer will tell you that randomizing the volume a bit solves this very well! You can also lower their volume a bit.
This is a very fun track, I enjoyed listening to all of it! I hope this review helps in any way, I only critique you this much because you’ve got a lot of potential to make even more fun songs. Keep at it man!
Thank you so much for such a great review! I will take all this into account.
Like how this song builds, introducing new elements gradually. Every new melody gives more context for all the others. Then the switchup at 1:28 prepares us for whatever you’re going to add on next.
The piano does get a bit monotonous after a while, and with all that repetition the melody becomes a bit grating. I would recommend changing it up or dropping it entirely in some sections, but it’s up to you.
Can’t wait to hear what you create next, Pentalogue!
Thank you!
Your effort and consistency this Jamuary is so commendable, keep at it!! You’re over halfway there— I’m rooting for you!
I dont think this is cinematic just because it has orchestral elements, but I sure as hell love them! Huge congrats on your ever-climbing number of fans, can’t wait for that song you mentioned!
Everything about this song is powerful!! The bass is sick, the heavy snares, the forceful side-chain… such cool production. I love this!
Love this laid back sound, really calm feel. Pretty track!
