The drum pattern here is SO complex, idk how you come up with this stuff! The sound design is SICK, it is literally the definition of controlled chaos and I LOVE IT. Your attention to detail is unmatched. Keep it up, vekoN!

thanks! yeah you can sometimes get lost in details but it's all worth it in the end
I am really enjoying how you keep integrating these subtle strings into your songs! The atmosphere on this one is very strong, definitely bring a nostalgic feel. I wish my headphone adapter cord was working right now so I could hear this song at the best quality :(
Thanks for your review! May your adapter get fixed soon
Super upbeat! I love the bouncy rhythms and cheerful chiptune leads. Pretty simple sound design that works for the track. Keep it up!
thank you so much!
I love this upbeat glitch-hop sound your developing!! The whole thing sounds super bright, with almost TOO much saturation in the mix… one way to alleviate this, however? Panning the elements so they aren’t all on top of each other in the stereo field! It’s practically a cheat code. It is REALLY loud, you’re right! This seems to take away from the sound quality in some places though, so be careful with that lol. Truly euphoric song, I’ve never heard the original but your song is FIRE!
OVERSCORE?! I've been graced by the presence of a legend! Glad you like the glitch hop style, I love making super happy things like that! I agree with the saturation, I feel like it was crunchy at times and I like my mixes clean and crisp. And definitely stereo, it's something I've been working on behind the scenes. Thank you so much for taking a listen to my track!
The sound design replicated that underwater, creepy vibe of the artwork, like the other one. But I liked the other one more compositionally, because I feel like this entry just has far too much repetition, even if it WAS intentional.
Maybe I should get started on MY entry.. dang it I spent way too long on that last track T-T
Thank you :) I get that repetition is not everyone's cup of tea (also damn i'm curious about ur track, i took a little break from newgrounds the last week or so, i'll check it out right now)
Almost all of your non-percussive instruments play at such low frequencies, that they all get muddled together. The song also sounds quite empty, unfortunately. The drum pattern is fine, but the rest just needs a lot of work. Sorry…
Just keep learning that new DAW (and get FL when you can, it’s worth it!) and keep watching tutorials!
The reason it sounds empty is because much of Waterflames music was empty back then. Though I will take the advice about the low frequencies lol.
Woah, you spent a TON of time on this! I like how consistent the energy is throughout; that slightly disconcerting atmosphere perfectly matches the artwork. I think there could have been more of a structure to the track, though. Keep it up, and good luck in the AIM contest!
Yo thanks! I'm glad you think that the mood matches perfectly with the artwork. You're right though, that the structure is kind of all over the place, that was something I was also worried about and debated myself on, but like you said I had already spent a lot of time on it, so I decided I'd just release it anyway. Thanks for the honest feedback though, really appreciate it! :)
Welcome back, it’s been a minute!! Your music has improved considerably. Only critique I’ll give for the moment is that the mixing is really oversaturated, and sometimes your softer elements get drowned out when they should be the main focus. Besides that, if you make the whole thing a bit quieter, it’s really great work!!
it wasnt meant to be good, something i whipped up in like 3 sessions. thx tho!
You just definitely trim the silence off at the end if you want a front page or anything (there are plenty of tools for this, just search up audio trimmers). Other than that, really interesting beat!
I will update the song file! thanks for the advice!
edit: fixed! :D
This one has such a funky feel to it! I love the bassline especially, it sounds so dark as per your usual sound, but also brings a really unique flavor to the rest of the track. The drill n bass section is FIRE, I really dig the intensity. Keep it up!!
Thank you so much <3
I did really want to bring an intense feeling to the end to contrast the rest of the EP. I'm glad it came through :)
