Perfectionism is SUCH a discourager for producers… don’t let it stop you from finishing tracks! Just because the song is absolutely to your standards, doesn’t mean it’s not worth uploading. I enjoyed this song, loved the quick half-time groove. The 808s went especially crazy, and the experimental chord stabs in the second half. Really unique beat, keep it up!

hey, just wanted to say thx for the kind words, they rlly meant a lot and helped me out, and sorry the response too so long heheh...

Romancestep?? New genre just dropped… and so did the BASS
The transition from orchestral instrumentation to growls and such feels very seamless, so nice job on that. I imagine dubstep isn’t too easy on FL mobile, so hats off to you for making it work! I noticed some muddiness in the low frequencies of the second drop, make sure there’s nothing conflicting your bass there. For any instrument that isn’t your bass or kick, you’ll want to EQ out all frequencies below 128 or so, to prevent that muddiness. The composition is very nice, some of your best work in that aspect! I really enjoyed the piano in the beginning of the second verse, although at 2:47 it became a bit distracting. I love how your reverb is applied throughout the song, it sounds super clean! As usual, I truly admire how much you’ve gotten out of FL Mobile. Your dedication has really paid off, and you’re only getting better!

Creeperforce24 responds:

That muddy ness was actually intentional, ever heard of substep? Kinda got inspired by that lol.

But yeah, it ain’t easy with all flms limitations and shi

Ok, time for an actual review! What you said about bedroom producers just rubbed me the wrong way, since I believe that quality can come from anywhere: it’s about how you use the tools you have that makes a song great! It’s awesome that you have such tools at your disposal, I’d highly recommend getting to know them.
This definitely has a boss battle mood, sounds straight out of a video game! I think you could have done without the section at the very end though, as it feels a bit pointless to have the audio fade out twice. Lots of intense and catchy melodies throughout, and the simple bassline underneath gives all of it a warm feel. Some of the notes don’t quite follow the key signature though, which leads to some of that dissonance CF24 mentioned. Check up on your theory :)
My biggest critique here is the instrumentation sounding quite artificial. The sounds are pretty low-quality, which leads to a slightly distorted mix. Speaking of the mix, the frequency spread could use some work, unfortunately— it’s very heavy on the high-mids, but there is virtually no high-freq presence. Working in your studio, that should be a pretty easy fix! One last thing, a small change you could make that would make a big impact is spreading out your instruments in the stereo field, to keep everything from feeling congested in the headphones! Give your sounds some space, and your songs will be much more immersive. It’s simple!
Overall, this is an energetic and upbeat bossfight theme, just some slight issues in the melody and the mix that hold it back somewhat. Incorporate some of those pristine acoustics, that will alleviate the artificial sound of it quite a bit. Good luck in your future musical endeavors, for real this time! I apologize for the earlier review, but next time I hope you’ll think twice before attacking the bedroom producer community 🤷

woah. I understand that a lot of people are jealous of my wealth and success as a musician, but toxicity and bitterness isn't the right way to respond to that. One of my favorite quotes that I came up with is:
"This is just about the worst attitude you could possibly have and you will not, as a matter of fact, ever find success without changing it."
-happyghosts AKA cereal, 2025

Think about that quote for a minute before you question my recording method again. You know nothing, kid NOTHING. If you do not change your review to be more positive I will be forced to issue an "ANGRY" reaction face to it, so think about what you say on other people's music.

Edit: OKAY YOU GET AN ANGRY FACE

Edit2: Yeah about that forum post, I was just poking fun at people who take expensive gear and professional audio recording too seriously.
Thanks for your response. I'm glad you find it energetic I tried to make it sound intense.
Improving frequencies is something I might want to look into, tbh I don't have much experience EQing.
IMO no one really "needs" theory, although that's kind of a big debate that's a little outside the scope of this conversation.
The track is actually meant to loop since it's a potential video game OST so that's why there's the unfitting fadeout at the end
Spreading out the instruments more might be a good idea, I've always been a little reluctant to pan them too much so maybe I wasn't doing it enough.

This is absolutely my favorite remix. Does the original music justice, incorporating the vocals in a new way, but puts that mellow trap beat behind it, some really soothing reverb, and so many other small details that just take the atmosphere to the next level. Really interesting remix!

S0MBRASOUNDS responds:

I really enjoy what QVEST did to this one! It's very faithful to the original with some simple but effective additions :)

The progression of this one is truly incredible, the way you build the song up to each drop so meticulously. The mix is clear and each element is defined. I really like the simple pads in the drops, they definitely help sell the “old school 1990s/2000s trance” style. Lots of cool pieces to unpack here, I’ll have to relisten a few more times! Great work, KI1.

KI1 responds:

Dude thank you, such a nice review :) It's so great on NG to have feedback from people who are producers also. Thanks for stopping by!

Title sells it short, this has so much more to offer than just some rhythmic noise! As usual, your breakbeat mixes perfectly with the atmosphere you set it to. This one specifically mixes the funky bass rhythms with ethereal pads in a really creative way… the combination of the two creates a really unique mood. Keep it up, all of these tracks have been great!

8-BITek responds:

Thanks :)

Dude your sound design just blows me away… like I can’t even dream of how you would go about making these sounds on SunVox, with NO SAMPLES?? The dark major chords add some tension to the song very nicely, on the compositional side— the introduction of the choir is very subtle as well, very neat.
But the growls and devilish fills really steal the show for me, this is some of the sickest dubstep you’ve ever done and I hope it places high in the competition!

vekoN responds:

i'm so incredibly happy you loved it! and yeah it took some tweaking to get it to sound the way it does

These tangled melodies are so gorgeous… you intertwined them in such an intricate way, I absolutely love this compositional work. Beautiful!

Solacitude responds:

I tried to make these two celli complementary as much as possible without losing realism and within what the library can offer.
Thank you very much for your kind words it means a lot! :D

The time changes throughout are such a cool touch! Each one brought an entirely new and fresh feel to the song, bringing out so many different sides of the same song. I love the thematic sampling, the words really emphasize the emotions you put into this. As usual, the bass sounds absolutely sick, and the production is just perfect!
Amazing work as usual, I hope that whatever situation caused you to feel this way is resolved as soon as possible!

S0MBRASOUNDS responds:

I'm really glad you enjoy what I did here. I was trying to do something a little different with my dubstep style :)

There are so many samples in this, I absolutely could not stop laughing… the song is super upbeat and goofy, so considering you were going for OMFG’s style I’d say you nailed it!
I think it’s smart that you keep track of what you learn from each track, that’s a good way to keep improving. There’s not too much variation throughout the song, but for this style of track I think that’s fine.
Keep learning and improving, you’re doing great! I think this is a little too silly for my tastes tho lol

PotangNG responds:

Yooo Overscore! Very glad to have made you laugh, that's one thing I leaned into while making this track! This is probably one of the stupidest songs I've ever made! Thanks for taking a listen and leaving a review!
